OUR SERVICES: CLIMATE ACTION
Adapt and thrive in the face of a change climate
Reduce impact and prepare for the future.

The increasingly serious climate crisis is being felt by communities everywhere, posing significant threats to people and the planet.
Climate change is an environmental challenge that has interconnected implications for society.
The climate emergency is pushing organisations to adopt regenerative agriculture practices that restore soil health and biodiversity, while using advanced regenerative farming techniques to ensure a sustainable and resilient supply of raw materials.
As a result, climate action remains the No. 1 sustainability and ESG priority for most companies. Reducing our impact on the planet, and generating a net positive climate, requires new solutions and further innovation.
By working with CottonConnect, brands and retailers are able to tackle climate change while simultaneously addressing many of the interrelated social challenges that are both a result of ecosystem changes and also exacerbating the issue.
We’re focused on delivering sustainable cotton programmes, solutions and interventions that cut GHGs in line with the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C by 2050, while helping farmers adapt to global warming.
CottonConnect can help you to take climate action in the following ways:
Manage what you measure
Our climate action framework begins with accurate measurement, utilising data-driven insights into regenerative agriculture and embedding effective regenerative agriculture practices such as cover cropping and minimal tillage to help farmers reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Understanding your climate impact is crucial for effective action, so we support farmers with carbon mapping and data tools that guide sustainable decisions on their farms. We use the Cool Farm Tool to quantify greenhouse gases and soil carbon sequestration.
Respond to the biodiversity challenge
Our approach promotes regenerative agriculture to restore natural habitats and implements specific regenerative farming methods like intercropping and improved soil carbon capture to combat biodiversity decline and increase climate resilience.
As butterfly, bird, and reptile populations diminish, many of our programmes encourage farmers to adopt regenerative farming methods that reverse this trend and help them adapt to changing climates. This includes intercropping and boosting soil health through carbon sequestration.
Our Organic Cotton Farmer Training Programme encourages the use of bio-pesticides and bio-fertilisers which has helped to reduce input costs by more than 35%. See Our Impact for more information.
Adapt to changes already happening
By shifting to regenerative agriculture alongside broader sustainable farming approaches that prioritise soil vitality and water use efficiency, farmers strengthen their resilience and livelihoods. This transformation supports the cultivation of regenerative cotton, making supply chains more robust. Using regenerative cotton methods also lowers farm emissions and fosters climate-smart communities.
While reducing emissions is vital, assisting farmers to adapt to ongoing climate shifts is equally important to secure their productivity and business sustainability long-term.
Providing farmers with tools, knowledge, and insights to improve yields while conserving water or enhancing soil through bio-pesticides helps them build resilience despite climate uncertainties.
